GAUNTLET HAIR.."[sounds like] unstoppable melodic heart that beats like it just ran an Alaskan winter mile in short-shorts" according to Pitchfork.
While Pitchfork writers remain pioneers in the fine craft of metaphors, wholly see where they’re coming from with this Pitchfork description of the 3-piece band from Denver, CO.
Another valid Pitchfork point was this,
"Gauntlet Hair’s self-titled debut is the most compelling demonstration yet of the band’s knack for headphones-friendly fist-pumpers," As soon as the video began had to run & grab headphones as the inaudible but attractive made it necessary to get a little bit more up close with the track.
Sadly I can’t speak for the whole album as said headphones broke in computer two seconds after (just as the album download had completed) which marks the 2nd time in two months…BUT that’s another story, and probably won’t happen to you (but if it does go to the Windows store even if you have a Mac a. there is no line, who buys a Dell? b. they will take out the headphone part for free, and in an hour less than the time it tells Mac to tell you that’ll be $300 please to fix you’ll have your computer back and headphone jack! true story…)
BUT, here’s what I do know about Gauntlet, who just won one a place among Stereogum’s 40 Best New Bands…if a minute into their track i’m craving them full-blast (and then go crazy now that no sound will come out of my computer computer) then I’ve got to agree they are a must see at Soda Bar 5/13.
